A letter from from PPS about SES water quality
Dear Sunnyside Families and Staff,
Portland Public Schools has contracted with TRC Solutions and seven state-certified labs to complete district-wide water testing in all PPS buildings by early July.
Sunnyside had fixtures with elevated levels of lead. The results are here (yellow highlighted fixtures are above 15 ppb).
There will be safe drinking water available in the fall and corresponding remediation planning will begin once results and a full assessment is complete.
The district has established a website for regular updates about testing and results, as well as other initiatives we are undertaking to address the issues.
If you have health concerns, please contact your health care provider or call Multnomah County’s Leadline at 503-988-4000 or visit http://www.leadline.org. Multnomah County will be holding free lead testing for children and pregnant women on Friday, July 15 from 11:45am – 12:30pm at Kenton Library, 8226 N. Denver Ave. Other dates and times for free lead testing are here. Additionally, PPS is offering parents the opportunity to order a home lead test kit for their children. If interested, please call ZRT Laboratory at 1-866-600-1636 or 503-466-2445, or order via email at info@zrtlab.com.
If you have any questions about plans moving forward please direct them to ehs@pps.net.
Thank you for your support of Portland Public Schools. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remains our highest priority and we appreciate the community support during this time.
