Help SES Win a Garden!

Have you signed up yet for the Root 4 Kids contest? Sponsored by Annie’s, it offers a chance for SES to win a garden, a Farm to School program or garden supplies–and in the process it promotes what is hopefully already your kid’s passion for growing their own fruits and vegetables.

We are now weighing in at No. 8, but we have 3 more weeks to capture the top spot and win. So please  take 5 minutes to register at root4kids.com, and be sure and plug in Sunnyside Environmental School where appropriate. Help spread the word to folks who share a stake in your child’s education:  post on Facebok, email relatives. Your PTSA is seizing every opportunity like this to win money/prizes that benefit the school and require little effort and no upfront costs. You might have participated in the Facebook Walk & Bike To School Challenge this fall, which we won and earned $5,000 for the school. Let’s see if we can win again!

Read-A-Thon Success

It’s time to celebrate the success of the Second Annual Sunnyside Environmental School Read-a-thon. Thanks to all of our students who kept their noses inside those books for two weeks, we raised over $18,000 dollars! Now that’s something to celebrate.

Thank you to all of the students, staff, and parents who came together to make this fundraiser a positive experience for all of us. We would like to extend a very special thanks to Beth Willard-Herr and her family for all of the hard work and time they put into organizing this fundraiser. It’s inspiring what our community can do when we come together for our students. Great job everyone!

Sincerely,

Your SES PTSA

SES Read-A-Thon Begins November 17th!

Our Second Annual Read-A-Thon kicks off Wednesday, November 17th. Last year was a lot of fun and we want to encourage participation throughout all grade levels and have an even more successful fundraiser this year. We invite all families to participate in this wonderful event that will promote literacy and a love of reading in addition to raising funds for SES. By holding a pledge-based event, our hope is that families will reach out to friends, neighbors, grandparents, co-workers…anyone who believes in SES’s mission and loves literacy! Click here to find out more, collect pledges and get reading!
