February: Annual Waste-Free Challenge returns to SES
Beginning February 1, SES will kick off our annual Waste-Free Challenge. This will be an educational, eye-opening opportunity for all of us. In the classroom, we will be allowed one mid-sized trash container for the entire month. The container will not be emptied until the end of February, to allow each class to examine their efforts to limit waste. In the cafeteria, we will save uneaten items, compost and recycle what we can.
Please help by limiting packaged items that are brought to school. Pack lunches and snacks in reusable containers. Discuss the progress with your students to encourage participation. This is a class competition to see which class can waste the least in a month, but it is also a school-wide experience that we hope will continue on in our homes and in our school long after February. Every effort helps us all waste less.
Thanks,
SES Sustainability Team
