Harvest the Rain Recap & Slideshow
Our barrel build was a ton of fun and quite successful. Even the iffy weather ended up cooperating. 4H had some good science experiments, Da Pressed kept us going with good coffee and Fuego de Lotus made great food. Thanks so much to Umpqua Bank for coming to volunteer and for buying lunch for our other volunteers! We made & sold 45 rain barrels; that’s 2475 gallons of water that our neighbors will be collecting the first time it rains! We had at least six people who are not affiliated with the school come and buy barrels and native plants for their rain gardens. Our free-barrel winner was a neighbor who doesn’t have children in the school, so that was a nice bit of community outreach. The middle schoolers earned good volunteer hours and took rightful pride in their design of the stencil and support of the community.
