October 19-November 13: The Book Harvest is back
The Book Harvest is a program through a non-profit organization, the Children’s Book Bank (CBB), that allows schools to collect books from the community. The CBB then distributes the books to children who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them.
Last year, Sunnyside was part of an effort that collected 27,000 books from more than thirty schools and business in our community. Our school collected almost 850 books! This year we hope to collect at least 900.
The drive begins October 19 and continues until November 13. There will be boxes by the front entrance of the school, near the auditorium doors. We encourage parents to bring books when they come for their conferences!
We would like gently-used books that range from preschool through middle school levels:
- board books
- picture books
- chapter books
- Spanish language
We are NOT looking for:
- coloring or activity books
- damaged books
