PPS superintendent search listening sessions

The Board of Education is moving forward to recruit and identify a new Superintendent to lead Portland Public Schools in time for the 2017-18 school year.

Last month they approved a resolution to contract with an executive search firm, Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to lead a national search to help us recruit the highest quality candidates for this important position.

Their goal is to have a new Superintendent to introduce to our community in the Spring of 2017, which means the timeline for community engagement, input and feedback will be accelerated to meet this goal. Immediately there are two opportunities to provide feedback:

• Take the community leadership and profile survey.
   
• Community forums: HYA will host five community forums, beginning the week of November 14, for families and communities to engage and provide input on defining characteristics, vision and values you believe the Superintendent should hold. For a full schedule of forums visit this page.
