Happy almost summer, Sunnyside! Please take a look at your summer calendar and see if there is a week that you are able to come to school to help out for a few days.

Watering the gardens is a rewarding summer experience, as well as a much-needed service! You get quiet time with plants, and kids of all ages can be involved, earn service learning hours and even take home some summer vegetables! The gardens literally cannot survive without the help of volunteers.

Taking care of the chickens for a week is a good learning job for students, and you get to keep the eggs that week. If all of the weeks don’t fill up, it is possible you can take care of them for more than one week, but sign up early, since this one is popular.

Visit Google Docs to sign up. Simply write in your name, email and phone within the week (or two) and area of the garden for which you will be responsible. Specific and easy directions will be emailed to you at the beginning of the summer so you will know what to do. Steph will even show you where everything is and even talk you through it on the phone, if necessary.

Thank you in advance for being generous with your time and being a part of why this place is so beautiful. Questions? Contact the sustainability team: sunnysidesustainability@gmail.com.
