Request for Proposals for Afterschool Choir Instructor at Sunnyside Environmental School

Sunnyside Environmental School is a vibrant urban public K-8 school in SE Portland, part of Portland Public Schools. Our parents have asked the SES Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) to find an independent contractor to lead an afterschool choir. This is a program supported by donations and fundraising.

Here’s what we need: Starting approximately December 1, 2011, we need an adult to lead student choir made up of 4th through 8th graders. The choir meets twice a week (Tuesday and Thursdays preferred). The choir meets for 1 hour beginning at 3:15 pm. We would like the session to provide:

  • Introduction to singing in a group
  • Basic rhythms

The school would hold the contract with an independent contractor. The school or PTSA is not able to provide an employment position or any benefits.

The decision on a contractor will be based on qualifications and costs. The maximum budget available for this scope of work is $ 200 per month or approximately $20 per hour.  The contractor may invoice monthly for work completed. The contractor selected must complete and pass a Portland Public School background check before beginning work in the school.

If you are interested in leading this great program, please contact SES parent Matthew Latterell at m.latterell@gmail.com.
